Please be advised the fingerprint training team with the Nebraska State Patrol-Criminal Identification Division will be providing fingerprint and palm print training for the Scotts Bluff County Detention Center as part of the center’s Jail School on Tuesday May 14th from (830-12:00). Training will be conducted at the 2522 7th Street in Gering.
This training is provided at no cost and is worth 3.5 CE/CLE/JBE hours. All training materials are also provided. Please see below for a description of the class. Course Title: Law Enforcement Fingerprint and Palm Print Training
Duration: 3.5 hours (15 minute break)
Audience: This training is directed towards a law enforcement or law enforcement support audience. This may include jailors and corrections staff, police or sheriff department support staff or booking personnel, and sworn law enforcement officers.
Topics Covered: A history of fingerprints as a biometric identification method, the importance of fingerprints and the criminal history record, how fingerprint-based background checks work, the role of the AFIS team, identification of the primary fingerprint patterns and characteristics, proper technique for capturing legible fingerprints and palm prints, how to correctly handle anomalies such as amputations and birth defects, rejected fingerprints and how to avoid them, and a hands-on practical rolling fingerprints and palm prints (all participants will be required to participate in the practical exercises in order to receive a certificate of completion).
